OHT Falcon 2OHT Eagle

Offshore Heavy Transport AS (OHT) is a specialised heavy transport and installation contractor. MV Falcon and MV Eagle are sister vessels among the fleet operated by OHT and managed by Songa Shipmanagement Ltd. Highlander had the honour to retrofit the steering control system of both vessels. The vessels are built with a fore and AFT wheelhouse which requires the steering control to be available on command at the required location.

The retrofit project requires the removal of the existing steering control system with identification and the reusing of existing usable cables and renewal of steering control panels at both sides. The system is also required to incorporate take-over steering control function at the commanding station.

Highlander HLD-SC 200 which carries the type approval from DNV.GL, CCS and other major classification societies meets the special requirements and demanding steering conditions. Utilising the well proven and highly robust CAN transmission technology, Highlander HLD-SC 200 Steering Control System is able to provide a highly reliable and precise steering control characteristics with versatile flexibility interfaces for the steering gear system of that generation. The system provides the required alarm monitoring required under SOLAS/IMO rules for steering control systems.

Highlander HLD-SC 200 incorporates an adaptive heading control system for course and track control. It is also certified to IMO Track Control performance standard by DNV.GL Track Control System designed to keep a ship on a pre-determined track throughout its passage and have to be interfaced with an electronic position fixing system.  SOLAS Regulation 19, 2.8.2 requires a Heading Control or Track Control system to be fitted to all vessels 10000 GT and above. HLD-SC 200 Steering Control System meets all the requirements and is well proven product installed in many vessels since its launch in Y2011. It is also am integral component system of Highlander Integrated Navigation System.
