First Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) in the world successfully completed its sea-trial with Highlander Intelligent Ship System. MT New Journey (Hull No: VLCC 82) is built by Dachuan Shipbuilding Group for China Merchant Steamship completed its sea trials and passed all the tests with 2 days ahead of its trail schedule.
Highlander completed the installation of the smart ship equipment and system on VLCC New Journey within 45 days prior to the sea-trial. This is the 3rd vessel to be equipped with Highlander Intelligent Ship System. Very large Ore Carrier (VLOC) Ming Yuan and Ming Zhuo are the other 2 vessels equipped with the world’s first intelligent ship system developed by Highlander.
Highlander Intelligent Ship System which carries out the functions of optimised automatic navigation, smart liquid cargo management, integrated energy and efficiency management system, need based equipment maintenance, synchronised shore-ship communication is fully achieved on MT New Journey (VLCC 82), a 300,000 tons vessel, via data network system. She is the world’s first vessel to be certified by China Classification Society (CCS) under its I-Ship program and One-Man-Bridge Operation – OMBO notation.
