The Hainan Province Marine Management Bureau has entered into agreement with Highlander for the realization of a large radar surveillance system. As the smallest and southermost of China’s 23 provinces, the island of Hainan has special needs for watching over fishing operations, maritime traffic and other kinds of littoral activity.

The radar network will produce accurate detection of surface activity to a distance of more than twenty miles off Hainan’s coastline. Not only will the new system give Hainan’s authorities dependable surveillance over their natural resources; it will also become a valuable technology asset for maritime search-and-rescue and anti-pollution efforts.

The agreement was officialized in a signing ceremony covered by national and regional television and newspapers.
